About Dave

I’ve been in the industry a long time… over 20 years to be exact. I started my career at a popular design firm, eventually starting and maintaining my own firm for 10 years. Now I provide freelance creative services for a wide range of clients over multiple disciplines. My forte is print design, but I like to dabble in anything creative, and have worked on everything from mobile apps to movie titles and interior/space design consultations. Along with actually doing the work, I also excel in creative direction for those who just need an experienced eye.

I also get along well with people. Peers. Clients. Friends. Some of them even have nice things to say about me. Like friend and Senior Associate at Hambly & Woolley, Dominic Ayre:

I’ve known Dave for a few years now and in my experience he is pretty two-faced. One of those faces is professional, team spirited & engaging, the other completely self absorbed with design. Dave’s one of the few people I’ve met who is truly interested and inspired by this industry and is also willing to pass that excitement along.

Even a client or two thinks I’m pretty darn talented. Like Patti Stewart, Vice President at Informa Canada (One of a Kind Show), who had this to say:

Dave has been a real pleasure to work with. We were extremely impressed with his enthusiasm, creativity and ability to really listen to us in terms of the look and feel we wanted in our branding. In addition, he’s very professional and great at keeping on top of deadlines.

I’ve been a design judge for various International competitions, have spoken about design and creativity for associations like the AIGA and the HOW Design Conference to name a few, and have been featured in various publications on design such as Identity Crisis: 50 Redesigns That Transformed Stale Identities into Successful Brands and the Big Book of Self Promotion. I also designed and authored Creative Stuff: An Activity Book for Visual Thinkers.
